چکیده

There has been great interest in the design of filterbank transceivers. Usually, with proper time domain equalization, the channel is modeled as an FIR filter. It is known that for FIR channels, the introduction of certain redundancy allows the receiver to cancel intersymbol interference (ISI) completely, and channel equalization is performed implicitly using FIR transceivers. This scheme allows us to trade bandwidth for ISI cancellation. In this paper, we will derive the minimum redundancy required for the existence of FIR transceivers for a given channel. We will see that the minimum redundancy is directly related to the zeros of the channel and to the Smith form of an appropriately defined channel matrix.

ISI-free FIR filterbank transceivers for frequency-selective channels

Discrete multitone modulation transceivers (DMTs) have been shown to be very useful for data transmission over frequency selective channels. The DMT scheme is realized by a transceiver that divides the channel into subbands. The efficiency of the scheme depends on the frequency selectivity of the transmitting and receiving filters. The receiving filters with good stopband attenuation are also d...

Block based DMT systems with reduced redundancy

There has been great interest in the design of DMT (discrete multitone) transceivers. An M -band DMT transceiver is called block based if the transmitter and the receiver consist of constant matrices. The commonly used DMT systems are mostly block based, e.g., the DFT based system used in transmission over digital subscriber lines. For an FIR channel of order L, it is known that redundancy of l...

Transmitter induced redundancy using FIR filterbanks can be used to equalize FIR channels irrespective of channel zeros and facilitate blind channel estimation. At the receiver end, linear or non-linear (DFE) FIR filterbanks can be applied to recover the transmitted data. Closed form expressions are derived for the FIR linear or DFE filterbank receivers. By applying blind channel estimation met...

Block FIR decision-feedback equalizers for filterbank precoded transmissions with blind channel estimation capabilities

In block transmission systems, transmitter-induced redundancy using finite-impulse response (FIR) filterbanks can be used to suppress intersymbol interference and equalize FIR channels irrespective of channel zeros. At the receiver end, linear or decision-feedback (DF) FIR filterbanks can be applied to recover the transmitted data. Closed-form expressions are derived for the FIR linear or DF fi...

Filterbank Transceivers Optimizing Information Rate in Block Transmissions over Dispersive Channels

Optimal finite impulse response (FIR) transmit and receive filterbanks are derived for block-based data transmissions over frequency-selective additive Gaussian noise (AGN) channels by maximizing mutual information subject to a fixed transmitpower constraint. Both FIR and pole-zero channels are considered. The inherent flexibility of the proposed transceivers is exploited to derive, as special ...
